How the screen protector material has evolved in to a widely used item.
First off screen protector materials were developed to protect the LCD screens of electronic devices and digital gadgets. The personal digital assistant or PDA was perhaps, the most commonly used gadget for which screen protectors were made for.
But you can get a screen protector for all kinds of hand held devises from the Blackberry smart phones to the iphone and all cell phones in between. Not to mention ipods,mp3 players,zune players,kindle if it has a screen it can be protected.
If you do not protect your screen you ran the risk of potentially marring or scratch the sensitive LCD screen surface, and so screen protectors were brought to market.
The first screen protectors were made from very thin films. These screen protectors were hand-cut by the end consumer to fit their specific device or gadget. You just cut them to fit your screen and placed them on your gadget.
These early screen protectors offered extra protection, but they peeled up easily and they scratched almost as easily as the screens themselves, causing the screen protector material to be replaced often. Let alone they left a sticky residue behind.
Nowadays most screen protector materials are made from highly durable scratch resistant film. They are made to be a more permanent part of the gadget or electronic devices in which they protect.
